City to open the book on Living Library
EDINBURGH is to host Scotland's first Living Library – allowing people to "read" a person as they would a book.
The concept began in Denmark in 2000, with the aim of bringing people from different backgrounds face-to-face in a bid to strip away prejudices.
After spreading through Europe, the project will reach Scotland on Saturday, as part of the Capital's Festival of Libraries.
Volunteers have already signed up to be a "Living Book" at the event in Adam House, on Chambers Street, with figures including a policeman, poet and war veteran on the list for people to quiz.
Just like in any other library, a Living Book can be "borrowed" for an agreed period of time, and readers can ask them questions about whichever part of their life they have chosen to present.
Living Libraries runs from 10am-4pm.
