City rowing duo smash world record
AN IT manager is celebrating after claiming his third world record.
Phil Craze and colleague Fergus MacKay, who work for Aegon at Edinburgh Park, rowed 100km in tandem in just under six hours yesterday – smashing the previous record in the over-30s category by almost four minutes.
Mr Craze previously broke two world records in a 24-hour solo challenge.
He said: “My initial feeling is relief, but when I get past that I know it will feel brilliant. The support was fantastic and it’s great to raise awareness and money for the charities.
“We hadn’t considered the heat when we were training and there were times I could feel cramp set in, but we didn’t think we would beat the time by that much.
Mr MacKay added: “I’m looking forward to lying still for a while because every muscle in my body is aching.”
