City cafe loses its licence bid

A LEITH cafe which has been operating without a licence for eight years has had a retrospective planning application refused.

Councillors also agreed yesterday that enforcement action should be taken against owners of the Baguette Bar, at 255 to 257 Leith Walk.

The business operates as a cafe, but has no permission to do so as original council approval was for use as a retail outlet only.

Owners of the premises claimed in the Evening News last Thursday they were "surprised" to have been told there was a problem with their licence.
