Children's charity nets football team's support
YOUNG footballers are supporting a leading children's charity by displaying their logo on their strips.
Spartans FC under-12s, based at Inverleith, are proudly showing off their new kits emblazoned with the Children 1st logo.
Instead of getting company sponsorship, they decided to raise awareness of the charity, which helps vulnerable and disadvantaged children in Scotland.
They will be wearing the new red and white kits, with blue logos, over the next two seasons.
Team coach Stuart Lockhart said: "As the club's child protection officer, I have already had lots of help from Children 1st through its child protection in sport service.
"Spartans FC aims to give children a fun time playing sport in a safe environment.
"We greatly value the work of the charity and want to show our support."
Children 1st Midlothian assistant director Jan McClory said: "Sport is a fantastic activity for young people to make friends and let off steam."
