Child and two adults hurt in flat blaze

A THREE-YEAR-OLD girl and two adults were taken to hospital after an early morning fire. Firefighters were called to Elcho Street, Peebles at about 3:10am yesterday and found a ground-floor flat “well alight”.

A 42-year-old man, a woman aged 41 and the girl had managed to get out of the building. The blaze, believed to have been started by a candle, extensively damaged the flat.
