Check in for charity Kilt Walk
EAGER walkers are being urged to dust off their sporrans and prepare for this year's charity Kilt Walk, held in aid of youth homelessness charity The Rock Trust.
The sponsored walk gives participants the chance to don their best tartan on a 5km route around some of the Capital's most famous sights.
The walk starts and finishes at the Ross Bandstand in West Princes Street Gardens, winding around the castle and returning to the gardens for an afternoon of family entertainment, including a performance by the Edinburgh Postal Pipe Band, face-painting and a competition for the best tartan-clad walker.
The build-up to the event on 22 August starts at 11am with a warm-up ceilidh, with the walk setting off at noon.
Those without a kilt can wear anything tartan or pick up a tartan sash on the day.
The Rock Trust's Tom Byrom said: "It's all about getting more people involved in the issues surrounding homelessness. You don't have to have a kilt and you don't have to be Scottish either. All you need to have is a belief that we can all do something to tackle homelessness."
