Charity shop’s furniture call

VOLUNTEERS at the Salvation Army have made an appeal for unwanted items of small portable furniture to be donated to help the shop meet rising local demand for affordable second-hand pieces.

Shop helpers said they had noticed a rise in the number of people seeking small items of second-hand furniture.

They appealed for people to hunt through their homes and donate any unwanted pieces to be sold on. Area manager Nicola Docherty said: “Lots of people will have a small item of furniture that is currently cluttering up the garage or shed.

“Whether it’s a small coffee table, footstool or something else useful for the home, we’d be grateful for any donations people can spare. It’s important for us to be able to provide items at reasonable prices for those in the local community who can’t afford new pieces.”
