Charity shop gutted by fire set to reopen
A BRITISH Heart Foundation Scotland shop is to reopen following a fire which forced it to close its doors for four months.
The furniture and electrical store on Dalry Road is thought to have been set alight by raiders who stole hundreds of pounds from its safe.
The blaze happened just a week after the Balmoral Bar on the same street caught fire, resulting in the death of firefighter Ewan Williamson. No-one has been arrested for the BHF fire and police say inquiries are ongoing.
It will be reopened by Lord Provost George Grubb at 10am on 11 December.
The charity is asking for more donations of electrical items and furniture for the store.
Barry Greenstreet, regional manager for BHF Scotland Furniture and Electrical Stores, said: "So far we've had a brilliant response but we urgently need more donations of stock."
