Celtic star Scott Brown's sister dies of cancer
CELTIC and Scotland football star Scott Brown was today mourning the death of his younger sister from cancer.
Fiona, 21, passed away after a long battle with the disease.
In a statement on the club website, Celtic said: "The thoughts and prayers of everyone at Celtic are with Scott and his family at this difficult time.
"Clearly, Scott and his family will be receiving every support from Celtic Football Club.
"This is an extremely difficult time for the entire family and naturally, we would ask that the family's privacy is respected."
Midfielder Brown, 22, is originally from Fife and joined Celtic from Hibernian last May in a 4.4 million transfer, the biggest ever between two Scottish clubs.
He has already gained eight caps for Scotland but had been rested from the squad to play the Czech Republic tomorrow.
