Castle Huntly open prison warder out of jail after five months

A PRISON warder who harboured one of Scotland’s most dangerous criminals in her home has been released from jail less than five months into an 18-month sentence.

Christine Robertson was found in bed with James Holland, who has spent the last 20 years in jail for a series of violent crimes.

Robertson, 45, was working at Castle Huntly open prison, near Dundee, at the time.

Following a six-day trial at Dundee Sheriff Court in April, a jury found her guilty of helping the career criminal abscond from the jail in March 2011.

Conservative justice spokesman David McLetchie said: “It demonstrates yet again the mockery of our sentencing system, which lets people like Christine Robertson out after serving, in this case, barely a third of her sentence. It is just one of hundreds of examples that you could cite every week.”
