Cash problem threat to city centre ice rink
EDINBURGH'S popular Winter Wonderland ice rink may have to be scrapped as a result of funding problems.
Last week it emerged Karen Koren was poised to pull out of running the city-centre rink amid reports she owed the council more than 100,000.
It was said that if she quit, responsibility for the attraction would fall to Nickie Goot, who has the contract for the rest of the Capital's festive events.
But today doubts were cast on whether another firm could be found to run the rink at short notice. One source was quoted saying: "There are very few companies with the expertise to do this kind of thing."
