Carjacker took OAP’s motor

A TEENAGER stole a pensioner’s car while she was stopped at traffic lights.

Liam McMeechan, of Ransome Gardens in Clermiston, subjected 67-year-old driver Wendy Cuerda-Rodriguez to a “terrifying experience” in the Dumfries and Galloway village of Canonbie in October 2011, a judge said.

Sheriff Kenneth Ross heard Ms Cuerda-Rodriguez was injured in the incident and had been left afraid to travel on her own. He ordered 19-year-old McMeechan to serve 41 months’ detention during a sentencing hearing at Dumfries Sheriff Court yesterday.
