Capital's New York air link is flying high
A DIRECT air link between Edinburgh and New York has been hailed for helping to contribute £184 million in tourism revenue to Scotland's economy.
Continental Airlines yesterday celebrated the fifth anniversary of its service between Edinburgh and its New York hub, Newark Liberty International Airport, which has carried more than 650,000 passengers since its launch.
Scottish tourism minister Jim Mather said: "Five years on from its launch, the Continental Edinburgh-Newark route continues to give Scotland a real competitive advantage. The service has also provided a real boost to our tourism industry."
