Can-doo attitude wins award for old dovecot
A DOVECOT which was converted into a visitor centre has been given a coveted design award.
The Haddington Visitor Information Centre at Lady Kitty's Dovecot has been presented with the Haddington and District Amenity Society Award for Design.
The society praised the restoration of the historic building at the Sands, saying it had made a "valuable contribution to the quality and appearance of the local environment".
The project was commissioned by the local community council, and carried out by East Lothian Council.
The information centre opened last year, and welcomed around 1400 visitors between April and September this year. It is entirely staffed by volunteers from the community council, who provide details and brochures about local attractions.
Community council chairwoman Jan Wilson said: "We are honoured to receive the award."
