Campus on shortlist for design prize
THE new campus of a city university has been shortlisted for an national architecture prize.
Queen Margaret's East Lothian campus has been nominated for the Scottish Design Awards.
The 105 million eye-catching building outside Musselburgh has already been praised for its architectural qualities and environmental credentials.
It was designed by architects Dyer and was opened to students and staff last year.
The university's vice-principal, Rosalyn Marshall, said: "We are delighted to have been shortlisted for this award and are aware of the high standard of competition.
"Sustainability was at the centre of our brief from the outset and Dyer has succeeded in outperforming the education sector in that regard without compromising on the aesthetic qualities."
The building also received a rare "excellent" rating from the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method.
