Call to publish councillors' expenses bills
THE city's Tory Party has called for full details of councillors' expenses to be published on the city council's website.
Expenses bills for the city's councillors have fallen dramatically in recent years following a series of Evening News investigations.
However, the bills for travel and entertaining were only made public following freedom of information requests.
Now Tory finance spokesman Cameron Rose has tabled a motion calling for the expenses to be published within three months of the end of the financial year.
He said: "We have seen how scrutiny in the Evening News contributed to a reduction.
"Edinburgh Council needs to respond to public concerns with increased openness."
