Call for bands and DJs to play Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon

Organisers of April’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Edinburgh Half Marathon are calling for Scottish bands and DJs to send in their demos as they hunt for 13 acts to line the route for 7000 rocked-up runners.

The event, which originated in San Diego in 1998, made its Capital debut in 2012 attracting 5000 runners. Organisers believe next year’s race is set to be even bigger as runners travel from across the UK to be part of the action.

Event Director Shannon Davis said: “The Rock ‘n’ Roll Edinburgh Half Marathon is like a race meets a rock concert and we’re looking for Scotland’s best bands to keep our runners, and supporters, entertained and motivated as they run through the streets of Edinburgh.”

“We’re looking for bands and DJs from all genres of music from rock ‘n’ roll and hip hop to electro, pop, dance and everything in between, we can’t wait to hear what Scotland has to offer.”

Last year runners rocked along the course to the sounds of acts including the Red Hot Chilli Pipers, The Asps, Stanley Odd, Japan 4 and The Deadly Winters before enjoying a rousing set by Scottish indie rockers Kassidy at the Finish Line Festival.

This year’s race will start and finish in Holyrood Park, making a loop around the city centre taking in some of its most beautiful views including the Meadows, the Mound, the Queen’s Palace at Holyrood, and the Scottish Parliament building. The final stretch travels down the Royal Mile with a glimpse of Arthur’s Seat in the background. Runners will also enjoy views of Edinburgh Castle while running throughout the city centre, and the Firth of Forth as they pass along the seaside stretch on Portobello Promenade.

Space at the event is limited and bands interested in getting involved are encouraged to apply now by visiting http://uk.competitor.com/edinburgh/band-submission-form
