Call for ban on 'sexist' pipers
THE Royal Scottish Pipers' Society could be excluded from judging and sponsoring piping events after voting at its annual general meeting to retain a 127-year ban on female members.
Some of the world's top women pipers have condemned the attitude of the Edinburgh-based RSPS as sexist – and called for it to be banned from judging and sponsoring competitions.
The Society – affectionately known as the 'Jolly Boys' – is now believed to be the only piping organisation left in the world that still excludes women.
