Bypass slip road closing for repairs

SURFACING works on the City Bypass will close a slip road for a night next week.

Diversions will be in place on the A720 at the Gilmerton eastbound off-slip between 8.30pm next Thursday and 6am the following day.

Motorists will be asked to head for the Sheriffhall Roundabout and follow the A7 and A772 Gilmerton Road.

The works are part of a £25,000 Transport Scotland investment.

Its maintenance arm, BEAR Scotland, said minor delays could be expected.

Ian Stewart, operating company representative for its South East Unit, said: “For the safety of road users and road workers alike, it is essential to close this slip road to complete these specialist surfacing works.

“We regret that there will be some disruption and would advise motorists to allow additional time for their journeys and plan ahead.”
