'Business as usual' despite railway strike
SCOTRAIL bosses insist at least nine out of ten trains will run as normal on Monday, despite the planned walk-out of hundreds of striking workers.
They said they also aim to ensure 100 per cent of services on many routes, including Edinburgh to Glasgow Queen Street.
Managing director Steve Montgomery said: "It is business as usual for Scotland's railway.
"However, we have again had to revise some services because of the RMT's bid to cause as much inconvenience as possible to our customers.
"Tough choices have had to be taken to ensure that as many people as possible are unaffected."
The RMT union has proposed to hold its second day of industrial action, following a walk-out last Saturday. The dispute centres on claims by the union that the safety of the new 300 million Airdrie to Bathgate line will be compromised unless conductors are the only people allowed to operate train doors.
