Bus firm set to divert waste for recycling
LOTHIAN Buses has said new recycling measures will see it divert around 550 tonnes of waste a year away from landfill for recycling.
The bus company said a study carried out in conjunction with Zero Waste Scotland had shown that around 95 per cent of the rubbish left on its vehicles and the waste produced by the firm could be recycled.
The council-owned bus firm said it had also begun sending its waste to a site in West Lothian rather than the west coast.
Steve Johnson, Lothian Buses' environmental manager, said: "Lothian Buses is committed to making our business as environmentally friendly as possible.
"Saving greenhouse gas emissions is a key component of this commitment."
