Bruntsfield budget hotel plan fails after residents object to likely noise
AN APPLICATION to open a hotel in a residential street in Bruntsfield has been thrown out by planners after neighbours objected.
Residents of Leamington Terrace said the transformation of the former Leamington Nursing Home into a 29-bedroom budget hotel would create noise, disruption and traffic chaos.
They feared it would be used as a long-term residence after owner Humayun Reza also asked for a licence for it to become a House of Multiple Occupation.
The planning application was thrown out at a City Chambers meeting. Meadows/Morningside Councillor Paul Godzik said: "I'm delighted that it's been rejected."
