Brothers get in gear for cycle to Paris
TWIN brothers are cycling to Paris next month to raise money for a Scottish charity.
Roger and George Poolman, both 17, will leave Edinburgh for the nine-day cycle with no support vehicle, crossing the channel from Portsmouth to Le Havre, on 13 July.
The money raised will help fund a one-year volunteer placement in Bolivia which Roger is doing in his gap year.
He will work as an assistant social worker in La Paz with local charity Arco Iris, which directly helps more than 2,000 children in the capital.
He said: "I will be working from 9:30am until 6:00pm each day assisting in lessons and following up individual cases, including taking them to hospital, to job interviews and to get ID certificates."
The charity aims to find solutions to poverty and social exclusion through several projects including an orphanage, a hospital, homework help classes and a shelter for pregnant women.
