Broadband gets faster

THOUSANDS of properties in a Lothian town have been given access to a faster broadband connection after upgrade work was completed.

British Telecom said it had completed the roll-out of its “next generation” service in South Queensferry, which will see 4650 homes and businesses benefit.

The investment will make available download speeds of up to 20 megabits per second – more than double the fastest speed previously offered.

Nicola Sturgeon, deputy first minister and minister for infrastructure, investment and cities, said: “Broadband, just like roads and railways, is a vital part of Scotland’s
infrastructure.

“I very much welcome this latest announcement from BT.”
