Brazil looks to Scots for World Cup tips

Police in Brazil are taking tips from Scottish officers as the country gears up to host the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympics. Seven senior officers have flown to Scotland from Rio this week for advice on policing major sporting events.

The team visited the Scottish Police College in Tulliallan, Fife, to learn about training and discussed community policing with Fife Constabulary.

The officers from Brazil also made a trip to St Andrews University to hear about research on violence reduction in Scotland and have met with Strathclyde Police, who are preparing for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow next year. The fact-finding mission, organised by the Scottish Institute for Policing Research, ends with a visit to Dundee University to discuss postgraduate police education.
