Braille is a nice touch from shortbread firm
A SHORTBREAD manufacturer has announced it is to make a range of products with Braille on the packaging.
Livingston-based Paterson Arran will put nutritional information and other details in Braille on its boxes of shortbread.
The company said it would be the first branded shortbread to feature the system and said it hoped Braille packaging would eventually be on all of its new items.
Marketing manager Amy Coles said: “We are always looking for ways to satisfy customer demands and featuring Braille on our best-selling shortbread is a useful way of meeting the needs of blind and partially sighted consumers.”
The idea has been given a warm welcome by the Royal National Institute of Blind People, which said it would “improve the shopping experience for blind and partially sighted customers”.
