Boys’ Brigade gets crime cash fund boost

Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill has handed over a cheque to the Boys’ Brigade as part of a scheme to give proceeds of crime to good causes.

Mr MacAskill visited the boys and officers of the Currie-based 65th Edinburgh Company at their camp at the Craggan Outdoor Centre on the southside of Loch Tay.

The MSP congratulated the Boys’ Brigade in Scotland on distributing more than £135,000 as part of the Scottish Government’s CashBack for Communities Scheme.

More than 150 groups have received funds enabling them to buy new equipment.

Mr MacAskill said: “Youth organisations such as the Boys’ Brigade do a fantastic job in getting our young people involved in new activities that make a big difference to our communities. As a government, we are pleased to support the Boys’ Brigade in continuing their excellent work.”
