Boy dies after being struck by van

A YOUNG boy was killed yesterday after he was hit by a van on a quiet residential street.

The collision happened at around 11.35am on Broadshade Crescent, in Westhill, Aberdeenshire.

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said an X-Box 360 controller was left lying in the middle of the road, which leads up to a housing estate.

A spokesman said: “Grampian Police can confirm a boy has died following a road traffic collision in Westhill.

“The child died at the scene following the collision with a van which happened just after 11.30am on Friday, 20 July on Broadshade Crescent, Westhill.

“The road is currently
closed to allow a collision investigation to take place and police are appealing for
anyone who witnessed
the collision to contact
them.”
