Boy back home after being found unconscious in pool
A SCHOOLBOY who was left fighting for his life after being found unconscious at the bottom of a swimming pool has been allowed home from hospital.
The 11-year-old pupil at Ferryhill Primary School in Aberdeen was pulled from the outdoor pool at Stonehaven in Aberdeenshire last Thursday afternoon.
He was initially rushed to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary but later transferred to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh for specialist treatment
The boy, who has not been identified, is understood to have made a full recovery and is now back home in Aberdeen.
A source at Aberdeen City Council yesterday confirmed that the schoolboy had been discharged from hospital.
The art deco pool, one of Stonehaven’s most popular tourist attractions, remains closed while investigations into the incident continue, led by the government’s Health and Safety Executive.
The schoolboy is understood to have been in a party of 24 pupils from Ferryhill at the pool for an end-of-term trip. He was pulled from the water by lifeguards and a member of the public.
