Boxer given time to stave off bankruptcy
TROUBLED boxer Scott Harrison won time to fight off bankruptcy proceedings yesterday after a personal plea to a judge.
The former champion told a court he planned to sell one or two houses in order to meet a tax bill of more than 83,000.
The Advocate General raised a sequestration action against him at the Court of Session in Edinburgh on behalf of HM Revenue and Customs.
Lord Emslie said: "This is a stage at which sequestration must happen because of an Act of Parliament."
Mr Harrison said there were three houses, two in Glasgow and one in Spain, and one or two of them would go up for sale. He told the judge: "I need maybe a month or two months."
After Lord Emslie granted the six-week extension Mr Harrison said: "Thank you."
