Booklet shows war memoirs
A HISTORY booklet detailing the wartime experiences of local men and women who served in British conflicts has been released.
West Lothian and the Forgotten War: Experiences of World War Two, National Service and the Korean War provides reminiscences by 17 veterans and civilians.
Included is the story of Korean War national serviceman Alex Easton, from High Bonnybridge, who was wounded at the Battle of the Hook. He was capturedand left for dead, later to be picked up and taken to a surgical hospital.
The booklet – researched by West Lothian Museums Service, the Workers' Educational Association and volunteers – will be available in all West Lothian schools and libraries.
