Book Week is kids’ stuff

SCHOOLCHILDREN are to be given free books as part of Scotland’s first national celebration of reading.

Plans for Book Week Scotland, which begins on November 26, were revealed yesterday by culture secretary Fiona Hyslop at the National Library of Scotland.More than 350 events are planned, while a pack of three picture books will be given to all primary one pupils.

Ms Hyslop said: “This programme is bursting with opportunities for everyone in Scotland to embark on a reading journey.”
