Body found in River Beauly manhunt

A BODY has been discovered in a Highland river where a wildlife photographer went missing four months ago.

Police searches for Gordon Dawson resumed on Thursday as scheduled work at the Aigas Dam on the River Beauly resulted in water levels being reduced.

A Northern Constabulary spokeswoman said last night the operation resulted in a body being found. The force has yet to confirm if it was Mr Dawson, who lived alone at nearby Teannassie in Beauly.

Mr Dawson, 61, went missing last November when some of his photography equipment was found at he dam. He was known to go to the spot regularly.

Initial searches were done by Grampian Police Underwater Unit, Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team, sniffer dogs and a plane from charity SkyWatch.
