Bobby on beat now on a bike

Police began bike patrols of the Highland capital last night.

Northern Constabulary said it was a healthy and efficient way of policing all areas with Inverness while interacting with the public.

Community beat sergeant Ewan Henderson said: “We are keen to have officers patrolling communities and being both visible and accessible to the
public.

“By having officers on cycles they will easily be able to engage with people and give a very
visible presence.

“The public have long expressed their desire for a more visible police presence and we are responding to this, in part, by launching the bike initiative.”
