Board enjoys a sneak preview of campus overhaul
PROJECT board members for Jewel and Esk College's £54 million redevelopment have been shown how work is progressing.
The e:volve project will see the college's existing buildings replaced with two new purpose-built campuses , the Eskbank campus and a new Milton Road Campus in Edinburgh. The board members were recently taken around the Milton Road campus.
Board chairman Tom Drake said: "With the interiors and exteriors of both buildings now well advanced, we were able to see where various learning areas will be positioned and how they will all connect together."
The new Midlothian Campus will house the Faculty of Technology. In Edinburgh, the re-fitted campus will incorporate music, multimedia, general purpose teaching and IT and office accommodation.
A new building has been added to provide learning and teaching facilities for students studying hospitality, health and fitness, beauty and complementary therapies, catering and hairdressing.
College Principal Howard McKenzie said: "The project is not only a major step in the college's growth but a huge project for the communities we serve and also further education facilities in general across Scotland."
