Blue badge cheats caught in the Capital

MOTORISTS fraudulently using disabled parking badges in the Capital have been snared during a two-day blitz.

Five men and three women were caught by police and council officials in just two days after being accused of using illegally blue badges. The eight motorists were charged and reported to the procurator fiscal following the swoops on Monday and Tuesday as part of Operation Bevel.

The individuals were charged with various fraud offences, including displaying a badge when not registered as disabled and displaying a badge that did not belong to them. Both police and council officers had gathered intelligence on individuals suspected of illegally using blue badges before this week’s clampdown.

The men and women were charged and are set to appear in court at a later date.
