Big win for Queensferry improvers
A PROJECT aimed at boosting economic fortunes in Queensferry has received £20,000 after the town’s companies voted to become a business improvement district (BID).
Queensferry Ambition’s bid was supported by the council as part of a drive to build stronger town centres.
Councillor Gordon Munro, vice-convener of the economic development committee, said: “We see BIDs as a sustainable way to developing businesses in local communities. It is also a great example of the council working well with local businesses.”
Malcolm Brown, chairman of Queensferry Ambition, said: “I am delighted to say that our successful BID is already paying dividends, as we received a cheque for £20,000 from the city council. This is money Queensferry would not have received if the BID had been unsuccessful.
“I would like to thank the council for this excellent level of support. The money will be used to fund projects which will have a positive economic impact on Queensferry businesses.”
Queensferry BID is one of 13 operational BIDs in Scotland, with a further 19 in development.
