Big-hearted gesture for Castle lovers
EDINBURGH Castle staff are offering to help people make the ultimate proposal this Valentine’s Day, by popping the question above the Portcullis Gate.
The Castle is offering to help plan the proposal and will close off the historic Argyle Tower for 30 minutes for private use by the couple.
Among those to have proposed at the Castle in the past was Kenneth Kibb, who travelled from Ireland with his girlfriend Edel to pop the question.
He said: “When we entered the Argyle Tower the room was perfect. There was a beautiful bouquet of flowers, champagne already poured into two glasses presented on a tray of rose petals and the card I had previously posted over two weeks before the event.
“While Edel was looking at the flowers and the card, I got down on one knee and proposed. My girlfriend was completely surprised and thankfully she accepted my proposal.”
