Bee box firm’s smart move

An Edinburgh-based company has become one of the first in Scotland to take secure card payments via iPhone.

Wudwerx, which makes bespoke bird, bee and insect houses, is now able to accept card payments from customers at craft fairs.

The technology, iZettle, is a smartphone app and mini card reader that turns an iPhone or iPad into a secure mobile credit card payment terminal.

Wudwerx owner Michael Rankin said: “I’ve been trying to find a solution for taking card payments at art and craft events for a while. Customers love the fact I’m using my mobile to take payments and are intrigued to know more.”
