Bebo helps youngsters win a Fairdeal
THE city council is using a social networking site for the first time in a bid to engage with youngsters.
A profile has been set up on the popular Bebo site to promote Fairdeal, which is the council's consumer advice and advocacy service for 11 to 21-year-olds.
By logging on to Bebo and visiting the Fairdeal profile, users can get advice on consumer issues and contact the team privately or publicly with a query.
It is the first time the council has used a social networking site and, if it proves popular, it could pave the way for similar uses for other council initiatives.
Councillor Robert Aldridge, the city's environment leader, said: "It can be daunting looking for information sometimes, but using sites such as Bebo means we can help young people in a medium they are comfortable using."
Currie High School pupil Louise Mackay, 16, from Currie, said: "The page is great because if ever I have a problem about something I can check online."
