Beat ’em? No, just join ’em

Councillors have responded to an offer from police chiefs to experience the beat with officers.

Eight elected members from West Lothian have so far agreed to go out on patrols after invitations were issued by Inspector Myles Marshall.

Council leader Tom Kerr spent three hours on patrol earlier this month in the
Linlithgow area.

He said: “It gives you an insight into what the police are facing day and night, and it’s made me appreciate the work they do. All councillors should take the opportunity of going around with the police. ”
