Beast loses jail appeal

A PERVERT who was jailed for three years for a string of sex attacks has lost his appeal against conviction.

Iain Dempster, 55, was found guilty of five charges of indecent or sexual assaults, which took place at Dunbar, East Lothian, and Galashiels in the Scottish Borders.

Dempster, who lived in Dunbar, was jailed in December but launched an appeal claiming that his victims had consented.

He was convicted of an attack on a 19-year-old woman in Dunbar on August 24, 2010 after he offered her a lift from Musselburgh. In another incident, two women, aged 19 and 21, were targeted in Dunbar after he gave them a lift.

Lord Carloway rejected Dempster’s appeal and ruled that “the court cannot hold that any miscarriage of justice has occurred”.
