Ban from road for motorist
4 times limit

AN EDINBURGH motorist who was more than four times the legal alcohol limit has been banned from the road.

Amy Jean Middlemass appeared from custody at Selkirk Sheriff Court and pleaded guilty to committing the offence on the Edinburgh to Kedburgh A68 road at Lauder on Sunday.

The 54-year-old of Goldenacre Terrace, Edinburgh, had a breath/alcohol reading of 149 microgrammes – the legal limit being 35.

The court was told that Middlemass was banned for three years in 2006 for drink
driving.

Defence lawyer Ross Dow admitted: “She clearly has an alcohol problem.”

Sheriff Kevin Drummond deferred sentence until March 18 to give time for background reports and imposed an interim driving ban on
Middlemass.
