Award success on menu for Lothian chefs

CHEFS from the Lothians have been recognised at the Scottish Chef Awards.

More than 300 of the country's top chefs gathered in Glasgow last night for the ceremony.

Graham Edmiston of city restaurant Abstract won the prestigious young chef of the year title.

Adam Dodwell of The Scotsman won bronze in the young chef category, while Mike Greig of King's Wark in Leith was crowned gastro pub chef of the year.

Roy Brett of Dakota North Queensferry was crowned hotel chef of the year, and John MacMahon of Edinburgh's Prestonfield House picked up silver.

Casual dining chef of the year went to Michelle Phillips, head chef at Loopy Lorna's tea house on Morningside Road, with Fiona MacInnes of Porto & Fi in Newhaven picking up bronze.

There were awards for chefs across the Lothians, with Daniella Coccia of Osteria, North Berwick, picking up Italian restaurant chef of the year, and Rosario Satore of Bella Mbriana in Edinburgh scooping silver.

Logan Thorburn of The Creel in Dunbar won silver in the rural chef category, Paul Wedgwood of Wedgwood's in Edinburgh won silver in city chef of the year, and Malcolm Webster of the Sheraton Grand picked up silver in the menu of the year category.

Steven Thomson of The Glass House in Musselburgh won bronze in the restaurant chef of the year category.
