Army cadet’s close shave raises cancer charity cash

AN army cadet has lost her locks in a hair-raising bid to boost the coffers of a cancer charity.

Laura Boyle had head shaved yesterday, raising £1240 for Macmillan Cancer Support. Her hair will be donated to the Little Princess Trust, which uses it to make wigs for children who have lost their own during treatment.

The 28-year-old from Livingston, who is a cadet based in Whitburn and also works as a telesales agent, said: “I felt slightly nervous beforehand but I wanted to do it because Macmillan do a lot of their work for nothing.

“Without the support of people raising money that charity would not exist. So many people are affected by cancer and they do a really good job at Macmillan, particularly when so many of the people working for them are voluntary.

“Members of my best friend’s family have been through cancer and I have seen the support they were given.”
