Arab stability up for debate

Senior Arab and European figures are to attend a conference in Edinburgh to look at ways in which Europe can help restore stability to the Arab world.

Speakers will include Prince El Hassan Bin Talal, a senior member of the Jordanian royal family and brother to the late King Hussein.

The event has been organised by The Royal Society of Edinburgh and the European Movement in Scotland and takes place on November 27.

Sir John Arbuthnott, president of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, said: “The RSE has always been international in outlook as well as seeking to advance knowledge domestically and I see it as vitally important that we host an event such as this which seeks to examine one of the most relevant developments in the world in recent years, the Arab Spring.”
