Apple day to sow seeds for fruit growing
VISITORS to the city's Botanics are invited to taste, try and buy apples this weekend to celebrate Scottish apple cultivation.
The free, two-day event is part of the attraction's autumn programme and will be held in the new John Hope Gateway visitor centre, at the west gate.
John Hancox, director of the Children's Orchard which is part of the event, said: "It's great to be bringing the Scottish apple collection together. We hope this will inspire people to realise the potential of Scotland for fruit growing and will encourage people to plant fruit trees with children. The day should be great fun for children and families.''
Experts will also be on hand to identify all types of apples brought to the centre on the day.
