Appeal against ban on house gigs is rejected

A BID to overturn a ban on concerts being held in a man’s home has failed after the city council rejected his appeal.

Council chiefs pulled the plug on Douglas Robertson’s Sound House concerts held in his Abbeyhill home amid noise complaints from neighbours.

The 59-year-old photographer had applied for a Certificate of Lawfulness to allow him to keep holding the music nights, but it has now been turned down by the council.

Mr Robertson said: “This is an absolutely shocking and short-sighted decision by the council.

“I am providing music nights which are good fun and are attended by well-behaved people.

“Most of my neighbours come to the gigs and I have only ever had one complaint about noise but that was enough for the council to close us down.”
