Antiques dealer wins auction for Animal Magic star's suit
A LOCAL antiques dealer has snapped up dozens of items of memorabilia belonging to Johnny Morris, one of Britain's best-loved television personalities.
Among the items bought by dealer John Love was the zookeepers suit worn by Morris, who died in 1999 aged 82, when he presented the popular TV show Animal Magic from 1962 to 1983.
The collection was sold by Morris' protege Terry Nutkins, who inherited the suit along with the bulk of Morris' estate.
The items were auctioned at Ramsay Cornish auctioneers in Leith, Edinburgh.
Mr Love said: "It's the same as buying Charlie Chaplin's walking stick or Michael Jackson's glove."
The uniform sold for 110, but did not include the hat as it was buried with its owner.
The suit and other items were sold in aid of Highland Wildlife Hospital Trust, a rescue centre in Ullapool, Wester Ross.
