Andy Murray to miss Olympic celebrations

US OPEN champion Andy Murray will not attend tomorrow’s Olympic celebrations in Glasgow after being ordered to rest by his advisors.

The tennis ace, who won gold at the London Olympics, is said to be “distraught” that he will be unable join fellow Olympians at the open-bus tour of the city but it is understood he may take part in a public event in his hometown of Dunblane on Sunday.

He has no plans to attend Edinburgh’s celebrations on the same day.

A source close to the tennis star said: “He has been on the road for the last four months playing tennis nearly every day and has taken advice to rest. He is gutted he cannot be there but may take part in a celebration for the whole town of Dunblane on Sunday.”
